On June 29, 2026, Beijing singer-songwriter Song Dongye released Take Another Moment, his second album and his first full-length release in thirteen years. On this world tour, the new songs will be presented alongside the old favorites that have stayed with listeners all these years.
Between 2017 and 2018, Song Dongye released three pivotal singles—“Empty Harbor Song,” “Guo Yuan Chao,” and “To Know”—each quietly expanding the boundaries of folk music and reshaping the industry’s perception of him. Now, thirteen years after his landmark debut Anhe Bridge North, arrives his long-awaited second album, Take Another Moment. Entirely self-conceived, arranged, and produced, it stands as a work that, even now, surpasses all expectations upon listening.
Over the years, he has lost weight. He fishes. He takes photographs. He plays with beads. And he has completed Take Another Moment, an album astonishing in both its lyrical scope and sonic depth.
He remains the songwriter, arranger, and producer at the center of his work. Alongside him are more than twenty instruments and sound sources, leading lights of China’s jazz world such as Wen Zhiyong, Xia Jia, and Nathaniel Gao, and independent spirits as subtle and reclusive as Xing Jiangbo
He is still occasionally playful, perhaps as a way of balancing his absolute seriousness and devotion to music—once even letting his cat's backside appear on an album cover. His photographs, too, remain quietly meaningful gazes upon the world around him.
He still possesses that enviable gift for melody and that unmistakable voice, dwelling in absurd and paradoxical reflections, turning dense and ambiguous imagery into a succession of beautiful riddles.
Sometimes, he still hasn't figured it out.
He cannot find the answers.
Nor can he always find the questions.
So he keeps walking, and keeps thinking.
