Hip-Hop: A Cultural Odyssey Slated to open February 2011
1/4/2011 (Los Angeles, CA) - The GRAMMY Museum, in conjunction with ARIA Multimedia Entertainment, has announced today the Hip-Hop: A Cultural Odyssey exhibit will open to the public, during GRAMMY week, on February 5, 2011. As a reflection of the ARIA Multimedia Entertainment large-format book of the same name, this will be the first major museum exhibition to explore the four-decade history of Hip-Hop in America, and the genre's impact on the world.
\"The story of Hip-Hop is a phenomenal one to tell,\" said, Jeff Wald, CEO of ARIA Multimedia Entertainment. \"Because of its passion for music's rich cultural history, The GRAMMY Museum was the obvious choice to help us tell that story.\"
This one-of-a-kind exhibit will provide an in-depth look at the genre by drawing attention to the artists and moments that exemplified Hip-Hop as we know it. The goal is to capture the stylistic and elaborate innovation that helped develop the genre from the late 1970s to present day.
\"The book is a masterpiece,\" said Robert Santelli, Executive Director of The GRAMMY Museum. \"We're honored to be working with ARIA Multimedia Entertainment on such a colossal project.\"
In addition to the book and exhibit, Hip-Hop: A Cultural Odyssey will also include a host of events, educational curricula, intimate performances, lectures, a CD release, a photo exhibition and more.
Members of the media can request to preview the exhibit on Wednesday, February 8th, during GRAMMY week. The exhibit will be officially open to the public February 5 -May 4. More information will be released in the coming weeks as specific exhibit information and related event information becomes available including V.I.P. preview dates and confirmed talent.
