Influential Country Rocker Sits Down for Intimate Conversation and Acoustic Performance

LOS ANGELES (April 2010) - On May 20, 2010, The GRAMMY Museum® will host cowboy singer/songwriter and country rock architect Chris Hillman for an onstage interview and performance, it was announced today.

\"A founding member of The Byrds, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and BMI writer, Chris Hillman can be credited with merging country western music to rock and helping to discover a whole new sound along the way,\" said Executive Director Robert Santelli.  \"As such, we are proud to welcome one of the seminal figures of the American folk rock movement to the GRAMMY Sound Stage, offering fans the chance to hear from him in a personal and unprecedented way.\"

Arguably the pioneer of the genre known as \"Country Rock,\" Chris Hillman has carved a permanent niche in the history of contemporary American music through his work with such notable bands as The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and the Desert Rose Band.  A third-generation Californian with deep roots in the history of the American West, Hillman grew up on a small ranch and was encourage to pursue a career in music at an early age.

Before an intimate audience of 200, hear Hillman in conversation about his influential musical catalog, cowboy life, seminal collaborations, and remarkable career.  After the interview (conducted by GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares Vice President Scott Goldman), Hillman will take questions from the audience and perform a few of his beloved songs acoustically.

The GRAMMY Museum® launched its flagship public program, \"An Evening With,\" in January 2009 with music legend Brian Wilson and continued its success with critically-acclaimed recording artists Ringo Starr, Annie Lennox, Tom Morello, Dwight Yoakam, Dionne Warwick, Smokey Robinson, Terence Blanchard, Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, George Benson, Paul Shaffer, Carly Simon, Harry Connick, Jr. and Clive Davis.  The program regularly features award-winning and cutting-edge musicians live and onstage.  Taking place in the Museum's state-of-the-art theatre, which screens the film \"The Making of a GRAMMY Moment\" during regular Museum hours, the program provides guests unprecedented access to their favorite musicians. 

\"An Evening With Chris Hillman\" will take place at 8pm in the GRAMMY Sound Stage, on the second floor of The GRAMMY Museum®.  Doors open at 7:30pm.
