Los Angeles, Calif. (April 5, 2013) - For the sixth consecutive year, L.A. LIVE and STAPLES Center will engage fans in a celebration of Earth Day, a nationally recognized day for inspiring environment awareness and mobilizing individuals to take action. L.A. LIVE’s Earth Month will feature six environmental outreach events created to inspire L.A. LIVE and STAPLES Center fans, guests and employees to put sustainable living into action right here in our city and find out how they can get more involved. A full list of L.A. Sunday, April 7th - EKOCYCLE DAY - 10:00am to 4:30pm Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVEEKOCYCLE – a global brand initiative from Coca-Cola and global music artist and producer will.i.am -- educates people about recycling and empowers their purchasing decisions. EKOCYCLE showcases the power of recycling by offering lifestyle products from famous brands that are made with recycled content. The EKOCYCLE team will be out at L.A. LIVE prior to the Los Angeles Clippers game along with other L.A. LIVE recycling partners with some fun giveaways and info on how you can increase recycling. Two Waste Management natural-gas powered trucks will be on display featuring custom EKOCYCLE graphics reminding the public about the importance of recycling.
Friday, April 12th - Lakers Friday Night Live - 4:00pm to 7:30pm Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVEThroughout the season before the Lakers play on select Friday nights at STAPLES Center, the Lakers host Friday Night Live in Nokia Plaza at L.A. LIVE with live broadcasts by ESPN 710 talent starting at 3:00pm, interactive games, giveaways, a beer garden, and autographs; and photos ops with Laker Girls, a Lakers legend and Lakers Championship Trophy. On April 12th environmental community groups will be joining them to help celebrate the Earth as part of Earth Month at L.A. LIVE.
Saturday, April 13th LA Kings Fan Fest and Waste Management Green Game and Eco Village - 5:00pm to 8:00pm Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVEThe reigning Stanley Cup Champion LA Kings will host this incredible event prior to their game that evening against bitter rivals the Anaheim Ducks as part of Waste Management’s Green Game they will host an interactive fan eco-village with games, eco-friendly giveaways and fun ways to protect the planet.
Sunday, April 21st Heal the Bay Awareness Night at LA Kings Game – 6:00 p.m. STAPLES CenterLA Kings will highlight Heal the Bay, a local non-profit environmental group working to keep southern California coastal waters and watersheds safe, healthy, and clean. Fans will have an opportunity to visit a Heal the Bay informational table and gather information on how they can partner with the organization.
Monday, April 22nd –STAPLES Center Foundation & Kings Care Foundation Beach Clean Up – 12:30pm to 2:30pm Dockweiler State BeachEmployees from the LA Kings, AEG and STAPLES Center will partner with Heal the Bay and will meet at Dockweiler State Beach at Imperial Highway for an organized beach clean-up.
Saturday, April 27th- E-Waste Drive - 11:00am to 2:00pm Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE(curbside at Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE access Chick Hearn Court from Figueroa and 11th)
For a three hours on Saturday April 27th Waste Management will be collecting E-Waste on Chick Hearn Court/11th Street (same street between Figueroa Street and Georgia Street) on the curb. Visit the L.A. LIVE event calendar for information on acceptable items at lalive.com.

L.A. LIVE, STAPLES Center and their partners Waste Management and Coca-Cola are bringing together community groups and government agencies such as Heal the Bay and LA County Department of Public Works to create three fun interactive environmental fan experiences at the events held at L.A. LIVE prior to the Clippers vs. Lakers game on April 7th, Lakers vs. Golden State game on April 12th and Kings vs. Ducks game on April 13th.
On Monday, April 22nd, STAPLES Center Foundation and the Kings Care Foundation will partner with Heal the Bay to do a beach clean-up on actual Earth Day with employee volunteers. Additionally, on Saturday, April 27th Waste Management will be providing a free public e-waste collection at L.A. LIVE, making it easy for fans to dispose of e-waste in an environmentally safe manner.
