L.A. LIVE Staff Picks: Movie & TV Show Theme Songs

by laliveinsider on Fri., May 29 at 12:30 PM

We all have those movies and TV shows that we've seen dozens (maybe hundreds!) of times that we can recite the theme songs and soundtracks to word-for-word. Here are #LALIVETeam Picks of our favorite movie & TV show theme songs!

"California" - Phantom Planet from The O.C.

In my middle school days it was all about The O.C. and once a week I would sit in front of my tv and sing along to "California" and get the latest on the Summer and Seth drama! You can't listen to this song without thinking of The O.C. - Melissa

"Kiss from a Rose" - Seal from Batman Forever

Was Batman Forever the best Batman movie? Hardly. Was Val Kilmer the best Batman? Well, at least he wasn't the worst. But was Seal's "Kiss from a Rose" a beautiful and fitting addition to the soundtrack? Yes, yest it was. - Erik

"Superman " - Lazlo Bane from Scrubs

"Superman" from Scrubs is one of my favorites! The theme song for the sitcom not only mentions the 405 that runs through Los Angeles, but it just feels so relatable especially when going through a hardship of losing someone. This one always gets me. - Taylor

"Don't You (Forget About Me)" - Simple Minds from The Breakfast Club

One of my favorite movies and songs from the 80s! This is one of those songs you listen to as you're cruising by the beach on a summer day, Ray-Bans on, and the breeze flowing through your hair! - Cat

"Shallow" - Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper from A Star is Born

Also a great karaoke song, if you have a partner willing to do a duet, this is always my favorite. I get more courage to go up and sign when I'm doing it with someone else (in addition to liquid courage of course). - Natalie

"Sunflower" - Post Malone & Swae Lee from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

I like this song because I' m a fan of Posty and Swae Lee individually and their collab is a feel good song. It's both heroic and emotional, just like the Spider-Man story. - Sean

"Before I Let Go" - Beyoncé from Homecoming

This song is extremely difficult not to dance to! The remake of this Frankie Beverly song is almost guaranteed to put you in a good mood, especially as the credits roll from Homecoming on Netflix. This is a certified BOP! - Devin
