LA Kings Holiday Ice at L.A. LIVE Throughout Month of December

Los Angeles (Dec. 3, 2013) – Last night at Los Angeles’ biggest, brightest and free-to-the-public holiday destination,  L.A. LIVE officially kicked off its holiday celebration in Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE with its sixth annual tree lighting at the LA Kings Holiday Ice presented by Coca-Cola.  The evening’s festivities were hosted by FOX Sports Broadcaster Erin Andrews and featured performances by singer/songwriter and former AMERICAN IDOL contestant Pia Toscano, YouTube sensations Robby Word and Alex G, with special appearances by professional skateboarder Shaun White, NHL Hall of Fame and LA Kings legend Luc Robitaille, LA Kings’ Jonathan Quick, LA Lakers’ Robert Sacre and L.A. Councilmember Curren Price. The highlight of the night was the majestic lighting of the 66-foot artificial Sequoia tree with more than 120,000 cool white LED mini lights, all while snow blanketed the streets of L.A. LIVE for Target’s best.snowday.ever. The night marked the official start of AEG’s Season of Giving, the company’s annual initiative designed to raise funds and generate awareness for non-profit organizations that serve youth and families residing in low income households in Los Angeles County.

Starting today and throughout the month of December, guests at L.A. LIVE will be treated to a one-stop holiday destination in the heart of Los Angeles. The LA Kings Holiday Ice at L.A. LIVE presented by Coca-Cola, the city’s largest outdoor ice skating rink, will offer a festive holiday activity for Los Angeles residents while L.A. LIVE’s spectacular holiday LED multi-media presentation on all 13 giant outdoor video screens, will present guests an awe-inspiring holiday light show.

Located within Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE, the 132 ft. by 80 ft. outdoor ice skating rink is the perfect holiday outing! The ice rink is open for skating until December 31, weekdays 5-11:30 p.m. and on weekends 3-11:30 p.m. General admission skate rentals are $13, groups of 10 or more are $10 each, and military, seniors and kids under 7 are $6. And to officially kick of the season the right way, there’s a 100 percent chance of snow in Downtown LA, Dec. 2-4! Over three magical days, Target is creating a winter wonderland, bringing So. Cal. residents a side of winter they rarely see. Target’s best.snowday.ever. event brings together the joy and wonder of the holidays, featuring a snow castle with a 30-ft. hill for sledding, carnival snow games, holiday surprises and of course, lots of snow!

AEG’s annual holiday charitable initiative, Season of Giving will focus this year on supporting youth development programs and joining their organizational efforts to brighten the holiday season for the children and families impacted by Los Angeles County’s high rate of poverty. Throughout the month of December, a different charity, foundation or non-profit organization will be honored nightly at 6:15 p.m. at the skating rink as part of AEG’s Season of Giving initiative. In the last five years, more than 150 charities and non-profit organizations have benefitted from the program.
