35 Venues Join Global Call to Action in Support of the Environment

3/23/11 (Los Angeles, CA) - For the third consecutive year AEG-affiliated venues in 25 cities, six countries and three continents will participate in the World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) Earth Hour, the world's largest annual public action for the environment. At 8.30pm on Saturday 26 March 2011, hundreds of millions of people across the globe will switch off the lights of homes and businesses for one hour. The goal of Earth Hour is to show people that taking even the seemingly smallest measures to conserve energy is a big step in the right direction for communities, business and governments across the globe.

"As a pioneer in the sports and entertainment industry, we believe we have a responsibility to the communities we serve and to relentlessly improving our environmental performance in tangible ways," said Jennifer Regan, Global Sustainability Manager. "Being a part of Earth Hour is a symbolic statement of our day-to-day commitment to reduce our environmental operations around the globe".

In 2010, AEG formalized this commitment by launching its AEG 1EARTH program and sustainability report, an industry first, which outlined goals specific to energy, waste, water and emission-reduction targets. AEG's ongoing investments in 636 kw of onsite solar energy in Los Angeles, Stockholm and Sydney as well as LEED-certified green building design and operations are important steps to achieving these reductions.

What started in Sydney, Australia, in 2007 with 2.2 million people has spread in the past three years to be the largest global event with more than 128 countries and global landmarks such as Golden Gate Bridge, Rome's Coliseum and Coca Cola billboard in Times Square.
