710 ESPN Adds More Local Programming & Emphasis on Southern California

710 ESPN (KSPN-AM) announced today it will move and expand the popular Mason & Ireland program to four hours (previously 1 to 4 p.m.), broadcasting from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., effective March 16, 2009.

\"These programming changes are an integral part of our plans moving forward,\" said Chris Berry, vice president and general manager of 710 ESPN. \"Southern California Sports Fans will hear more about the teams, issues and players that are important to them from our local 710 ESPN personalities.\"

710 ESPN's line-up changes include an additional hour of Mike & Mike in the Morning and The Herd with Colin Cowherd until 11 a.m.

  • 3 - 7 a.m. - Mike & Mike (simulcast on ESPN2)
  • 7 - 11 a.m. - The Herd with Colin Cowherd (simulcast on ESPNU)
  • 11a.m. - 3 p.m. - Mason & Ireland
  • 3 - 7 p.m. - Denholm & Long
  • 7 -10 p.m. - ESPN Radio News Block
  • 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. - AllNight with Jason Smith (Broadcast live from 710 ESPN studios)
  • 2 - 3 a.m. - SportsCenter AM

According to Larry Gifford, 710 ESPN (KSPN-AM) program director, \"The decision was made based on many factors including the popularity of Mason & Ireland, recent changes in the marketplace, some shifting of network talent, the move to new studios at LA LIVE, and the recent acquisition of the Lakers play-by-play rights beginning in the Fall.\"

710 ESPN moves into its state-of-the-art studios at L.A. LIVE on March 2, 2009 and will be part of the ESPN West Production Facilities which will be the home of ESPN's late night SportsCenter (2 a.m. ET/11 a.m. PT) starting April 6, 2009.
