2010 Los Angeles Police Foundation to Honor Kelly & Robert Day at Annual Dinner-Gala October 9

Set To Honor Well-Known Philanthropists and Civic Leaders

Los Angeles, CA (September 30, 2010)-The Los Angeles Police Foundation will honor well know philanthropists Kelly and Robert Day at the 11th annual True Blue Gala on Saturday, October 9, 2010 atop L.A. LIVE's Event Deck.  Serving as master of ceremonies for the Foundation's 'signature' event will be Vernon E. Jordan, advisor to several former United States Presidents.  Also appearing at the event will be Former First Lady Mrs. Laura W. Bush and Former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III who will deliver special tributes to the honorees.  Others expected guests include Placido Domingo, Jennifer and Sylvester Stallone, Julie Hagerty, Conchata Ferrell and Stephen Tobolowsky.  Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck, former Police Chief William Bratton and other dignitaries will also participate in the program.  Jim Wiatt is the Event Chair.

This year's event seeks to surpass the $1.5 million raised at last year's event, which also served as the grand opening of the LAPD's new headquarters.  The Los Angeles Police Foundation is the largest source of private support for the LAPD, and funds programs, training and equipment that are not provided by the city budget.  These include counter-terrorism preparedness pro-grams, technological advancements, scholarships, youth programs and equipment.  The LAPF currently supports a wide-array of projects such as trauma shooting kits that enable officers to quickly respond to shooting or stabbing incidents, the creation of LAPD online, the most visited law enforcement Web site in the world that includes a useful crime mapping feature and scholar-ships that enable LAPD officers to attend advanced law enforcement and management trainings.

\"The Foundation chose to honor both Kelly and Robert Day to recognize their tremendous efforts and support of the Los Angeles Police Foundation for the past decade,\" said Cindy Miscikowski, Chair of the Los Angeles Police Foundation Board and Los Angeles City Council Member.  \"As business and community leaders, the Day's have set an extraordinary example of not only pledging their support but also encouraging others across the region to contribute to this outstanding organization whose importance to our City cannot be emphasized enough.\"    

Joining Honorary Gala Chairs Villaraigosa, Rikki Klieman and Bratton are True Blue Gala Co-Chairs Wallis Annenberg, Nancy and Phil Anschutz, Edye and Eli Broad, Julie Hagerty and Richard Kagan, Ghada and Ray Irani, Cindy Miscikowski, Niki and Max Nikias, Margie and Jerry Perenchio, Gayle and Ed Roski, Heather and Steve Mnuchin, Eva and Marc Stern and Elizabeth and Jim Wiatt. Officers of the LAPF Board are Chair Cindy Miscikowski, Vice Chair Richard Kagan and Secretary Steve Nissen. 

True Blue Gala Honors Days

Also joining the evening festivities will be business, entertainment and community leaders, police officers, civic officials, friends and supporters of the LAPF.  The evening will be full of live entertainment, food catered by Wolfgang Puck catering and interactive displays and equipment funded by the Los Angeles Police Foundation. 

Beginning at 5:00 PM, Gala guests will have to opportunity to view the latest police technology, vehicles, weapons, anti-terrorism and crime-prevention equipment which will be on-display at the Event Deck at L.A. LIVE.  Additionally, LAPD Officers will be on-hand to provide demonstrations of the equipment and answer questions about all of the interactive exhibits.
