The GRAMMY® Museum
Set for a December 3 – 7, 2008, grand opening week, The Recording Academy® and AEG are collaborating on The GRAMMY Museum — a 30,000-square-foot facility devoted to exploring and celebrating all forms of music, as well as the rich cultural history of the GRAMMY® Awards. Timed to coincide with the 50th celebration year of music’s most important event, The GRAMMY Awards (recently held for the eighth time at STAPLES Center), The GRAMMY Museum — a one-of-a-kind "museum of the 21st century" — will be the cornerstone of the exciting L.A. LIVE development and is expected to draw more than 300,000 visitors annually.
The GRAMMY Museum will spotlight artists of all musical genres, unveil the creative process, illustrate the art and science of recorded music, as well as examine and celebrate the rich history of the premier recognition of excellence in recorded music — the GRAMMY Award. Guests will experience music from a never-before-seen insider's perspective that only The GRAMMY Museum, with the support of The Recording Academy, can deliver.
Located on four levels at Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street, the 33,400-square-foot museum will bring guests through a unique, interactive and educational journey unlike any other. An intimate 200-seat theatre will host films, interviews and
performances with artists and industry leaders. A rooftop event terrace with spectacular views of downtown — The Target Terrace — will host private functions and fundraising galas for more than 450 guests.
